If you manage to get 100% on kills, secrets and treasure you get 30,000 bonus points.Īfter you have killed the big final boss at the end of the chapter you get an ending to read which doesn’t hold back on the gory details. Once you pull the lever in the lift the level is complete and you get a breakdown of how you did. Often the lift is within a locked room so you have to search the level to find the key, usually guarded by the SS, officers or guards. The objective of every level is to find the lift to take you to the next level! Going round the levels on this game you see lots of murals paying homage to Adolf Hitler and Nazi Germany, all adorned with the swastika.Īs a gamer one thing I’ve always loved, probably because of Wolfenstein 3D, is to find a secret! There are so many in this game, you just go along pressing the walls until you hear a creak and the wall retreats backwards to reveal a secret room full of either health, ammo, weapons or treasure! Occasionally you even find secret rooms with an extra life to collect! I love how selecting your level of difficulty insults you unless you go for the harder two! ![]() To my joy, many retro games have been re released on other platforms, so this time I’ve enjoyed playing it on the xbox one. It was a lot of trial and error but when it worked it certainly was a eureka moment! I remember downloading a Dos Box onto one of my PCs and looking at online instructions of what codes to type in to get the game to play. Over the years I have downloaded this game numerous times for my own nostalgia. Originally released on for DOS, it was inspired by the 1981 Muse Software video game Castle Wolfenstein, and is the third installment in the Wolfenstein series. It was developed by id Software and published by Apogee Software and FormGen. Wolfenstein 3D is a first-person-shooter that I first played on PC when I was around 8 years of age.
